Permacultura interior
La Permacultura propone una forma de vida sustentable sin límite de tiempo. Nos enseña a vivir y trabajar casi sin costo energético y sin causar daños al ecosistema ni al hombre.
He aquí una aplicación de las leyes de la Permacultura al interior de la persona. Está presentado como mandamientos religiosos porque es la forma más jocosa que hemos hallado. Si encontramos otro modo que da más risa lo cambiamos.
Los mandamientos de una vida Permacultural
1- No pagarás.
Se refiere a producir los propios alimentos, luz, agua, gas. No comprar alimentos ni recursos agotables. La salud mental de una persona se puede medir en pesos; cuanto más gastas más enferma estas. En Argentina hemos tenido un ministro de economía que no podía vivir con menos de us$ 10.000 mensuales. Esa es la medida de su debilidad mental.
2- Trabajarás lo menos posible.
De esto sabemos bastante, la Permacultura nos enseña a producir sin trabajar la tierra, sin limpiar, desmalezar, sin sacar piedras, pasto, sin podas ni injertos. Prácticamente nada. Si dejamos de pelear contra la naturaleza dejamos de trabajar y de gastar energía y recursos.
3- Harás lo que te gusta y cobrarás por ello.
En vez de luchar toda la vida para ganar tanto dinero que me permita dedicarme a hacer lo que me gusta, se trata de dedicarme a lo que me gusta desde el principio y todo lo que gane, por poco que sea, será excedente.
Las tareas manuales son tan motivo de orgullo como las intelectuales. Es preciso dignificar el trabajo para no obligar a estudiar a quien gusta de un oficio. Queremos un país donde no haya un pescador que sueña con ser ingeniero, ni un ingeniero que sueña con ser pescador.
4- Cambiarás tus gustos de acuerdo a tu conveniencia, no a la conveniencia de las grandes empresas.
Los esclavos de antes eran los trabajadores y los de ahora somos los consumidores, El medio esclavizante era el látigo, ahora es la creencia de que tal cosa da placer. Nos hacen creer que comer plástico, beber pintura, ser chofer de sí mismo nos va a dar placer, que el lugar agradable está a 1.000 Km. de mi casa, y que vale la pena arriesgar la vida en las rutas para ir todos los años. Las agencias de turismo de Bs As dicen que la felicidad está en Córdoba, pero las agencias de Córdoba dicen que está en otro lado. La mayoría de las horas del día están dedicadas a trabajar para comprar de esa felicidad, el descanso y las vacaciones están para cumplir con ese mandato en forma intensiva, y los momentos de ocio para que nos inculquen lo que a las grandes empresas le conviene.
Somos programables y auto-programable, nos auto-programamos de acuerdo a la ambición y la violencia que vemos en las películas y hay violencia en el Mundo. Nos programamos de acuerdo a la mala onda de las novelas y luego sufrimos desgracias amorosas. Si existe la libertad, eso es elegir la auto-programación que le conviene a uno.
5- Tu trabajo tiene que servir para llenar el estómago y el ego.
No basta con ganar dinero. Si uno hace lo que le gusta, el trabajo sirve para sentirse útil, para aprender a ver el mundo, para ocupar un puesto en el grupo social y sobre todo para levantar la autoestima. [Plagio de (Lo pequeño es hermoso) de Frid Schumacher] Todo trabajo que hagas debe darte dinero y orgullo. Si tocas la guitarra en los trenes no alcanza con el dinero, es necesario el aplauso.
6- Harás lo que debes hacer aunque seas el único.
Para saber si algo está bien o mal se pregunta: ¿Qué pasa si lo hacen todos los habitantes de Mundo durante miles de años? Si no pasa nada está bien. Si no es aplicable en forma permanente está mal. Pero hay otra idea instalada en la sociedad que dice: “Si no lo hacen todos no sirve, por ese motivo no lo hago yo”. Por eso aquí se propone que uno haga lo correcto aunque sea el único, y le diga a otro que lo haga aunque sea el único y este a otro y así siguiendo.
7- Buscarás relaciones de interdependencia.
Para nosotros la relación de dependencia es inmoral para ambas partes. La libertad es amoral (ni buena ni mala) si soy libre no perjudico a nadie pero tampoco le sirvo a nadie. En la interdependencia ambas partes se benefician. No es posible que las partes pasen desde la dependencia a la interdependencia. Sí desde la libertad. Es condición necesaria que cada parte sea autosuficiente y esté bien con sigo para establecer esta relación. Hablamos de relación entre plantas, animales, personas, instituciones y países. Una pareja unida por dinero es moral si el vínculo es mutuo y consiente. Todos los poetas moribundos de amor son para nosotros inmorales porque cantan historias de relaciones no recíprocas.
8- Buscarás tu basura interior, la perdonarás y la usarás como fuerza.
A la basura interior llámela vanidad, ambición, egocentrismo, manipulación, etc., según sea su caso. Para entender cabalmente este mandamiento es necesaria una experiencia previa. Hay que aprender a hacer compost sin la formación de líquidos ni olor a podrido. Las personas que han hecho esto han sentido que transformaron algo inútil y repugnante en agradable y valioso, también se han preguntado ¿qué pasa si hago esto con otras cosas de la vida?
Es importante practicar este mandamiento con la basura de afuera antes que con la de adentro.
9- Buscarás cómo sacar provecho de los malos sin que dejen de ser malos.
Una vez que has visto y perdonado tu basura puedes comprender y perdonar a los “malos” Incluso puedes establecer provechosas relaciones de interdependencia sin intentar cambiarlos.
10- Cambiarás estos mandamientos de acuerdo a tu conveniencia.

Permacultural Thinking
Inner Permaculture
Permaculture invites us to a sustainable way of living without time limits. It teaches us how to live and work with almost no energetic cost, and without causing any damage to the ecosystems or our fellow humans.
What follows is the laws of Permaculture when applied to the inner life of a person. They are presented as religious commandments for this is the funniest way we’ve found. If we happen to come across some other funnier way, we won´t hesitate to change it!
Commandments for a Permacultural life
- I- Thou shalt not pay.
This refers to growing your own produce and producing your own electricity, water, gas, etc., rather than buying food or non-renewable resources. A person’s mental health can be measured in dollars – the more you spend the sicker you are. In Argentina we once had a Minister of Economy who couldn’t live with less than US$ 10,000 a month. That was the degree of his mental illness.
II- Thou shalt work the least thou can.
We know quite a bit about this. Permaculture teaches us to grow our own produce without ploughing, raking, weeding, removing stones, pruning or grafting – doing practically nothing. If we stop fighting nature we also stop needing to work, thus saving energy and resources.
III- Thou shalt do what thou like and charge for it.
Instead of struggling my whole life in order to earn enough money to afford doing what I like, let’s do what I like from the beginning. Whatever I earn from it, no matter how little it may be, it will be a surplus!
Manual labour can fill us with pride as much as intellectual work does.
We need to dignify manual labour so that people who enjoy working at a trade don´t feel pressured to go to university in order to gain respect. We want a country where there are no fishermen dreaming of being engineers, nor engineers dreaming of being fishermen.
IV- Thou shalt change thy likes at thy convenience, not at the big companies’.
Former slaves used to be the workers. Present slaves are the consumers. Before, the enslaving instrument was the whip. Now, it’s the belief that a particular thing gives us pleasure. We are induced to think that eating plastic, drinking paint and being one’s own chauffeur will bring to us a sense of gratification. Furthermore, the nicest place is 1,000 km from home. In Argentina we risk our lives on the highways to get there every year. Buenos Aires tourist agencies say happiness is in Córdoba, but Córdoba’s agencies say it is somewhere else.
Our waking hours are to be worked in order to buy that happiness. During our rest and vacation time we are meant to carry out this mandate in a very intensive fashion, while our leisure time serves the big companies who instill in our heads whatever is convenient to them.
We are programmable and self-programmable beings. We program ourselves according to the ambition and violence we see in the movies, thus there is violence in the world. We program ourselves to the dramatic soap opera moods, so we suffer love misfortunes. If there is any freedom possible, it resides in choosing the kind of self-programming which serves us best.
- V- Thy work shall serve to fill both thy stomach and ego.
Earning money is not enough of a reason to work. If you do what you like, your work will help you feel useful, learn to see the world, occupy a place within your community, and most importantly, raise your self-esteem. (From “Small is beautiful,” by Fritz Schumacher.) Any work you do, it must provide you with money and pride. If you play your instrument on the train, it is not enough to collect money, you also need to receive applause.
VI- Thou shalt do what thou should, even when thou art the only one doing it.
In order to know if something is good or bad we ought to ask ourselves: What would happen if all inhabitants of the world were to do it for thousands of years? If nothing happens, it is good. However, there is another more deeply instilled idea in society which says, “If it’s not done by the majority it doesn’t work, so I don’t do it.” Therefore, it is advised here that we do what is right even if we are the only ones doing it, and tell somebody else to do the same even if they are the only ones, and ask them to tell somebody else, and so on.
VII- A moral relationship is necessarily interdependent
A relationship of dependency is immoral to both parties. Freedom, on the other hand, is amoral (neither good nor bad) –if I am free I don´t damage anyone, nor do I serve anyone. In interdependency, both parties benefit, and both parties have the freedom to stop relating if they want to, so in this way interdependency is permanently optional. It isn´t possible to move from dependency to interdependency. However, it is possible to move from freedom to interdependency. Freedom is the necessary condition for each party to be self sufficient in order to establish this kind of relationship.
Among relationships we include the ones which can take place between plants, animals, people, institutions and countries.
VIII- Thou shalt find thy internal rubbish, forgive it and use it as fuel for energy.
In order to fully understand this commandment one has to first have had the experience of learning how to make compost without unpleasant odours or liquids. People who did so affirmed having felt they were able to transform useless and disgusting things into pleasant and valuable material, and also asked themselves, “What would happen if I submit other things in my life to this same process”?
It is important to practice this commandment with the outer rubbish first, and only then with the inner rubbish.
IX- Thou shalt seek ways to profit from mean people, without them changing their mean nature.
Once thou reconcile thyself to thy internal rubbish, thou shalt understand and forgive the “mean” ones. Moreover, thou may establish beneficial interdependent relationships with them without the need to convert them.
X- Thou shalt change these commandments at thy convenience.
